Rigging Handbook Comments

When the 3rd edition of the Rigging Handbook was release in May of 2007 we thought it was free of errors and typos - however even though we were diligent about proofing the manuscript we still overlooked some mistakes – sorry. With this 2nd printing in April of 2008 we have updated many of the pages to provide you with better illustrations to clarify some of the areas our readers have informed us about.

So if you are wondering what is different in this printing from the first printing, here is the list of the changes:

Page 19 - Clarified cautions and warnings about using the capacity table values vs actual WLL
Page 20 - Changed HS to HT (to represent Hand Tucked)
Page 72 - Combined previous content with page 71, added WLL cautions
Page 74 - Included alternate methods (turned tail) for securing wire rope ends on wedge sockets
Page 87 - Clarified the use of wire rope clips for rigging
Page 88 - Corrected illustration to show the wire rope clips properly installed
Page 91 - Added carbon steel shackle WLL's, revised illustration to incorporate both Carbon and Alloy
Page 92 - Clarified sling side loading with new examples
Page 131- Modified formulas for inclined planes (old formula was conservative) to provide better results
Page 139- Revised and expanded illustration for the eyebolts used with angular lifting
Page 140- Revised illustrations to include AMSE B30.26 values for angular lifting with eyebolts
Page 150 - Clarified maximum included angles use for hooks and Shackles with new illustrations
